Security forces have killed a key terrorist commander, Ziauddin alias Ibrahim Idrees, in an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed on Monday.

According to security sources, Ziauddin was the mastermind behind the assassinations of PTI leader Rehan Zeb and ANP leader Maulana Khanzeb, as well as several other high-profile target killings. He was also involved in the murders of the Assistant Commissioner of Nawagai, members of JUI, and multiple police officials.

Sources revealed that Ziauddin had been imprisoned in Afghanistan before the Taliban's takeover of Kabul, but was released after their return to power. He reportedly crossed into Pakistan in 2023 to reorganize ISIS-Khorasan's network in the tribal belt.
Security officials described his death as a significant setback to ISIS-Khorasan's operations in Pakistan, saying it would severely disrupt the group's ability to carry out cross-border terrorist activities and targeted killings in the region.
