Hyundai Motor Group and Nvidia have agreed a major expansion of their partnership to advance autonomous mobility, robotics and AI-driven manufacturing, including the development of a new“AI factory” powered by Nvidia's latest Blackwell infrastructure.

The companies say the system will support the training, validation and deployment of AI models across Hyundai's vehicle platforms, robotics projects and smart factory operations.

Hyundai plans to use Nvidia DGX and other infrastructure to train large-scale AI models, Nvidia Omniverse and Cosmos running on RTX PRO Servers for digital-twin factories and robot simulation, and Nvidia DRIVE AGX Thor as an“AI brain” for vehicles and robots.

Euisun Chung, executive chair of Hyundai Motor Group, says:“As we enter a new era of AI-powered mobility and smart factory, deepening our collaboration with Nvidia marks a pivotal step forward.

“Together, we are not only building advanced technologies but also laying the foundation for a robust AI ecosystem in Korea – one that fosters innovation, nurtures talent, and positions us at the forefront of global AI leadership.”

The expanded partnership also supports the Korean government's plan to build a national physical-AI cluster.

According to the companies, Hyundai and Nvidia will work with government agencies to establish AI technology and application centres and data facilities, backed by around $3 billion in investment.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Ministry of Science and ICT on 31 October.

Bae Kyung-hoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT, says:“For Korea to leap forward as a leading nation in AI, the advancement of physical AI is essential – a key initiative championed by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

“This inaugural step in public-private collaboration to foster physical AI is therefore incredibly significant.”

He added that combining Korea's manufacturing data with Nvidia platforms is expected to“accelerate innovative AI transformation (AX) in manufacturing across industries”.

Jensen Huang, Nvidia founder and CEO, says:“AI will revolutionise every facet of every industry. In transportation alone – from vehicle design and manufacturing to robotics and autonomous driving – Nvidia's AI and computing platforms are transforming how the world moves.”

Hyundai says the collaboration will help it build smarter, safer vehicles with advanced driver-assistance, in-car intelligence and continuous over-the-air updates, while enabling autonomous-ready production lines driven by digital twins and robot simulation.
