Erdogan condemns massacres in Sudan's El-Fasher
(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday denounced the killing of civilians in Sudan’s El-Fasher, calling for the protection of the country’s unity and independence.
“No one who carries a heart in their chest—not a stone—can accept massacres against civilians in Sudan's El-Fasher in recent days. We cannot remain silent about this,” Erdogan said during the opening of the 41st session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul.
He stressed that safeguarding Sudan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence was essential and urged continued solidarity with the Sudanese people.
Turning to the conflict in Gaza, Erdogan said that the Palestinian group Hamas appeared committed to adhering to the ceasefire, while Israel had shown what he described as “a very bad record.”
He noted that Israel had killed over 200 civilians since the ceasefire took effect and continued its military operations in the West Bank. “We cannot allow attempts to annex the West Bank, change the status of Jerusalem, or any attempts to harm the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque,” Erdogan added.
