(MENAFN) China successfully sent a new remote sensing satellite into orbit on Monday from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan, a southern coastal province.
The Yaogan-46 satellite lifted off at 11:47 a.m. local time (03:47 GMT) aboard the country’s domestically developed Long March-7 carrier rocket. The satellite reached its intended orbit as planned, a state-run news outlet reported.
According to officials, the Yaogan-46 will serve a range of purposes, including disaster prevention and relief, surveying land resources, monitoring hydrology, tracking weather patterns, and supporting other scientific and environmental applications.
This mission marked the 605th flight of the Long March rocket series, underscoring China’s growing track record in space launches and its commitment to advancing satellite technology.
