Fidan to hold meeting on Gaza with presence of regional FM’s
(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to convene a meeting on Gaza in Istanbul on Monday, according to diplomatic sources. The gathering will include foreign ministers from Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan—the same group that met with US President Donald Trump on September 23 during the UN General Assembly, sources noted.
The meeting will focus on recent developments related to the October 10 ceasefire and the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Fidan is expected to denounce Israel’s attempts to fabricate pretexts for ending the truce and stress that the international community must take a firm stand against Tel Aviv’s provocative actions.
He will also emphasize the necessity of coordinated efforts among Muslim countries to ensure that the ceasefire transitions into a lasting peace. According to reports, Fidan will highlight that the humanitarian aid currently reaching Gaza remains insufficient and that Israel has not fulfilled its obligations in this critical matter.
“Ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of adequate humanitarian aid to Gaza is a humanitarian and legal necessity,” Fidan will assert, while calling for pressure on Israel to meet these urgent needs. He is also expected to stress the importance of swiftly implementing arrangements that would allow Palestinians to manage Gaza’s security and administration, while protecting their legitimate rights and maintaining the vision of a two-state solution.
Additionally, Fidan will underline the need for continued consultations and close coordination regarding actions within UN platforms, the sources added.
