Kuwaiti Academic Wins Third Place In Three Minutes Thesis Competition In Doha


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti academic Nouf Al-Hamdan came third in the first edition of the "Three Minutes Thesis" competition in the Middle East and North Africa, held in the Qatari capital Doha.
Al-Hamdan, who holds a PhD in chemistry from Kuwait University, expressed her delight at of third place after giving an outstanding presentation on her research thesis on the preparation of compounds with optical properties capable of killing cancer cells and used for photodynamic therapy.
Al-Hamdan expressed her thanks and appreciation to Hamad Bin Khalifa University (a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development) for organizing the competition.
She also thanked the College of Graduate Studies at Kuwait University for giving her the opportunity to participate in the competition.
The competition aims to help graduate students present their research theses in simple language in just three minutes to a panel of judges and a non-specialist audience.
This edition of the competition includes contestants representing universities from 17 countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. (end)
