Srinagar- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against an Aligarh-based man for allegedly setting up a“Centre for Narendra Modi Studies” without obtaining approval from the Central government or the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), officials said on Monday.
The agency initiated action following a complaint from the PMO, which had forwarded a petition filed by an Aligarh-based advocate. The complainant alleged that Jasim Mohammad was running the centre without mandatory permission, thereby violating the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950.
According to officials, the CBI launched a preliminary inquiry in April this year after receiving a communication from an assistant director in the PMO. The inquiry found that the“Centre for Narendra Modi Studies” had been registered on January 25, 2021, under the Indian Trusts Act, 1860, by Jasim Mohammad, without any approval from the Central government or the PMO.
