The dispute between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government and the federal interior ministry over bulletproof vehicles has taken a new turn, as Balochistan Chief Minister has offered to take the vehicles rejected by the KP government.

In his statement, the CM Sarfra Bugti said that his province has also been severely affected by terrorism and therefore requires additional security equipment and bulletproof vehicles to strengthen counterterrorism measures.

The controversy began when the federal interior ministry recently handed over three bulletproof vehicles to the KP Police through Inspector General of Police. However, KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi directed that the vehicles be returned, declaring them substandard.

According to CM Afridi, the federal government provided old and faulty vehicles to the province. On the other hand, sources within the federal interior ministry maintain that the vehicles were previously used by an international organization, their bulletproofing is imported rather than locally manufactured, and they remain functional despite being nearly fifteen years old.

Sources added that Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had formally handed over the vehicles to the KP Police a few days ago, but the provincial government refused to accept them and has demanded new vehicles and additional resources instead.
