Ministry Of Environment And Climate Chang Organise Environmental Training For Divers
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change organised a specialised training workshop for divers, within the activities of the Coral Reef Restoration Project in Qatari local waters.
The event brought together a number of divers and experts in the field of marine environment. The national programme supervised by the ministry aims to restore coral reefs and rehabilitate marine ecosystems through the application of advanced scientific methodologies that ensure the sustainability of the marine environment and support biodiversity in Qatar.
The project includes several key phases, such as conducting marine surveys to assess the current status of coral reefs in territorial waters, identifying donor sites and target sites for coral reef restoration, as well as carrying out restoration operations and deploying artificial structures designed to support coral growth.
The project also aims to train divers and participants in the best environmental and scientific practices used in restoration processes, as well as in monitoring and evaluating the condition of coral reefs after restoration, studying growth rates, and observing the settlement of marine organisms around them. The workshop would enhance the skills of participating divers and raise environmental awareness about the importance of protecting coral reefs, through intensive hands-on training and direct technical supervision from the Wildlife Development Department at the ministry.
The training included learning techniques for installing structures dedicated to reef restoration and mechanisms for monitoring their growth to ensure the project's success and sustainability.
