Fankar-E-Kashmir Rekindles Valley's Folk Spirit at Tagore Hall

Srinagar- The rich melodies of Kashmir's folk heritage reverberated through Tagore Hall on Friday evening as Fankar-E-Kashmir Season 3 celebrated the Valley's timeless musical traditions in a vibrant display of talent and culture.

Organized by Kashmir Rabab Academy, ShowCase Events, and The Eagle, the event brought together some of the region's most promising young voices. Contestants mesmerized audiences with soulful renditions of Kashmiri folk, Sufi, wanwun, and chhakri numbers-reviving the Valley's musical roots with passion and authenticity.

Shakeel Ahmad Mir emerged as the winner of the contest, taking home a cash prize of ₹20,000, a memento, and a trophy, while Taufeeqa Ali was declared the runner-up and awarded ₹10,000. Other participants were also felicitated for their performances.

The third season of the contest featured a Live Talent Hunt, interactive sessions with music experts, and a grand finale that recognized outstanding young performers and offered mentorship opportunities.

In a special tribute, the organizers also honored four living legends of Kashmiri music-Begum Jaan, Abdul Rashid Hafiz, Rashid Jahangir, and Ustaad Samadju Sofi-for their lifelong contribution to preserving the region's folk traditions.
