Pakistan has temporarily reopened the Spin Boldak border crossing with Afghanistan for the movement of migrants after keeping it closed for a week, local media reported on Friday.

According to Taliban-run state television, Pakistani authorities at the crossing have allowed limited passage for Afghan travelers and migrants stranded on both sides of the border.

The Spin Boldak crossing, a key trade and transit route between Afghanistan's Kandahar province and Pakistan's Balochistan region, was closed last week following an escalation of cross-border tensions.

The closure came after clashes between Taliban fighters and Pakistani border guards, halting trade and movement of people and leaving thousands of migrants stranded in extreme conditions.

Officials said the reopening is temporary and subject to further security assessments, as Islamabad and Kabul remain in contact to manage rising tensions along the frontier.

The partial reopening follows days of unrest along the border, including Pakistani airstrikes on Afghanistan territory and a fragile 48-hour ceasefire agreement announced earlier this week.

Observers say the situation underscores the growing humanitarian pressure on displaced Afghans and the fragility of relations between the Taliban administration and Pakistan amid escalating border violence.
