Dubai Culture, Dubai Club For People Of Determination Organise Awareness Walk To Support The Visually Impaired
(MENAFN- Mid-East Info) Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in collaboration with the Dubai Club for People of Determination, organised an awareness walk at Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood to mark White Cane Safety Day, observed annually on 15 October. The initiative comes as part of Dubai Culture's commitment to supporting and empowering People of Determination by helping them develop their skills and encouraging their participation in enriching the local cultural scene. It also reflects the Authority's dedication to supporting Dubai Government's strategies and the 'My Community... A City for Everyone' initiative, which aims to make the emirate a friendly city for People of Determination.
The awareness walk was part of a series of cultural and community events organised by the Club in partnership with the Authority to raise public awareness about the rights of the visually impaired and the importance of integrating them into society. It also aimed to highlight the need for accessible infrastructure and buildings to ensure inclusive mobility, while promoting the use of the white cane as a key tool that enables independence and self-reliance for the visually impaired. Dubai Culture remains committed to adopting innovative solutions that equip its cultural and heritage assets with all necessary accessibility features for People of Determination. This reflects the Authority's social responsibility to ensure that everyone can enjoy the diverse cultural experiences it offers to the community, in line with the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination and Dubai's vision to enhance their quality of life.
