Russian Ambassador Gives JFK Assassination Files to US Congresswoman
(MENAFN) The Russian ambassador to the United States recently provided Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna with printed copies of declassified Soviet-era documents concerning the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, according to an announcement made by the Russian Embassy on Tuesday.
Ambassador Aleksandr Darchiev met with Luna, who represents Florida in Congress, and presented her with a set of documents sourced from official Russian state archives, diplomats confirmed.
The Russian Embassy noted that a number of these records had previously been shared with the United States by Soviet authorities during the time of Kennedy’s funeral back in 1963.
“I have received a hard copy of the report on JFK’s assassination from the Ambassador of Russia. A team of experts is enroute to my office in the morning to begin translation and full review of documents,” Luna stated on X.
The congresswoman also revealed that journalist Jefferson Morley is assisting her in the analysis of the 350-page document set.
“We will be posting translations, prepared by fluent Russian speakers, of significant material in the document. We will provide context on what this document is, how it came to be, and how it compares with what is known about Russia’s response to JFK’s assassination,” Morley shared on X.
Luna has been a vocal advocate for uncovering all available details regarding the assassination of Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, who was killed on November 22, 1963.
She has raised doubts about whether Lee Harvey Oswald, who was officially accused of the crime, was truly the person behind the killing.
