King of Jordan highlights plan for long-term peace in Palestine
(MENAFN) In a recent interview, His Majesty King Abdullah outlined a comprehensive and forward-looking vision for peace in the Middle East, emphasizing the risks of ongoing instability if a fair resolution to the Palestinian issue is not achieved.
The King highlighted that the region cannot withstand further escalation and stressed the importance of negotiating a comprehensive agreement grounded in justice, equality, and the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
Following this vision, Jordan expressed on Tuesday its hope that the outcomes of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit, hosted by Egypt with US support, would contribute to ending the conflict in Gaza, ensuring the sustained flow of humanitarian aid, and achieving a full Israeli withdrawal from the Strip.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said it anticipates “the start of concrete steps towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.”
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Fouad Majali reaffirmed the Kingdom’s recognition of US President Donald Trump’s leadership role in facilitating the Gaza ceasefire, rebuilding the Strip, preventing the displacement of Palestinians, and advancing the peace process.
He also praised Trump’s commitment to preventing the annexation of the West Bank, calling it “a key step towards preserving the prospects of a viable Palestinian state.”
Political analyst Abdul Hakim Qaraleh described King Abdullah’s interview as “a precise diagnosis of the current regional situation and its possible trajectories.”
He added that the monarch had articulated “a clear royal vision that combines depth, foresight, and practical solutions,” outlining a realistic pathway to peace focused on establishing a Palestinian state.
In comments to a news agency, Qaraleh warned that failure to reach a fair resolution could allow violence to resurface in the region, underscoring the urgent need for a comprehensive settlement.
Despite diplomatic progress, challenges remain on the ground. On Tuesday, Israeli authorities informed the United Nations that only 300 aid trucks would be allowed into Gaza on Wednesday, half of the previously agreed amount. Deliveries of fuel and gas would also be limited to specific humanitarian infrastructure, the notice stated.
Writer and political analyst Thamer Anasweh emphasized that aid delivery continues to be a “critical and sensitive component” of the Gaza agreement.
He noted that both Palestinian resistance groups and mediating parties “recognise its strategic significance,” warning that Israel could use aid restrictions as leverage tied to key provisions of the agreement, such as disarmament.
“The occupation may use aid limitations as leverage to influence or even disrupt the continuity of subsequent stages of the deal,” Anasweh added.
