(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, Oct. 16 (Petra) – The Al Hussein Fund for Excellence and the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) on Thursday signed an agreement under which the Fund will serve as a silver sponsor of the King Hussein Cancer Research Award, marking the third consecutive year of partnership aimed at advancing scientific and medical research in the field of oncology.
According to a Foundation statement on Thursday, the agreement was signed by the KHCF Director General, Nisreen Qatamesh, and the Fund General Manager, Ali Yaghi.
The sponsorship aligns with the Fund's mission to promote innovation in technology and development and to strengthen scientific research at both individual and institutional levels. Through this support, the Fund seeks to reinforce Jordan's position as a regional hub for excellence in cancer treatment, enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities and alleviating patients' suffering.
Yaghi said the Fund takes pride in supporting the King Hussein Cancer Research Award, describing it as a distinguished scientific initiative that leverages research to advance cancer treatment and improve the quality of life for patients.
He also called for establishing a national institutional framework to document cancer incidence, identify contributing factors, and analyze cases by demographic and lifestyle indicators. Such research, he said, would strengthen Jordan's capacity to predict and prevent cancer causes.
Qatamesh highlighted that the Fund's continued support empowers KHCF and the King Hussein Cancer Center to strengthen their scientific research base, improve recovery rates, and reduce mortality.
She added that the KHCF's research collaborations with international partners have raised recovery rates in Jordan to levels surpassing global averages, expressing appreciation for the Fund's sustained partnership and commitment to the Foundation's national goals.
Established in 1999 under royal patronage, the King Hussein Fund for Innovation and Excellence is a Jordanian non-profit entity financed by banks operating in the Kingdom. It serves as one of the financial sector's key social responsibility initiatives.
