Poland Seals USD4.16B Anti-Drone Defense Agreement

(MENAFN) Poland finalized a procurement agreement Friday for the SAN anti-drone defense platform destined for the nation's armed forces, a Polish news agency reported.

The contract signing unfolded in Kobylka, a town situated near Warsaw, where the Armament Agency formalized the deal with a joint consortium of domestic and international firms. Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz attended the ceremony.

Engineered specifically to neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles, the SAN platform represents a critical component of Poland's aerial defense infrastructure. The initiative carries a price tag approaching 15 billion zlotys ($4.16 billion USD) and is slated for completion within a two-year timeframe.

Following operational deployment, the system will integrate into Poland's evolving multi-tier air defense network, which encompasses medium-, short- and very short-range aerial defense systems presently under development or active implementation, local media outlets confirmed.
