Bandipora – In a shocking case of livestock theft, at least 35 sheep were stolen from a poor farmer's cowshed in Dudhwan SK Bala village of north Kashmir's Bandipora district during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
According to locals, unidentified thieves broke into the cowshed of Mohammad Shafi Sheikh, son of Abdul Rahim Sheikh, and fled with his entire flock, leaving the farmer devastated.
Residents said the victim, who depended solely on his livestock for survival, has suffered a crippling financial blow. They have urged authorities to act swiftly and ensure the culprits are brought to justice.
ADVERTISEMENTPolice have taken cognisance of the theft and launched a manhunt. A police official confirmed that teams are on the ground to trace the stolen sheep and identify those behind the crime.
“This is not just a theft-it's a man's livelihood stolen in the dark,” said a local resident.
