Pakistan Orders Afghan Migrants To Vacate Homes And Shops Within One Week

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Pakistan has ordered Afghan migrants to vacate their homes and shops in Quetta within a week, warning of legal action against those staying illegally.

Pakistani authorities have given Afghan migrants one week to vacate their homes and shops in Quetta, warning of legal action against those staying in the country illegally.

Deputy Commissioner Mansoor Ahmed said homeowners and shopkeepers renting to Afghan nationals have been ordered to clear their properties within seven days. Local officials said enforcement teams will begin inspections after the deadline expires.

Pakistani media reported on Thursday that authorities have also warned property owners of fines and potential arrest if they fail to comply with the order. The move is part of an ongoing crackdown on undocumented Afghan refugees across the country.

The order comes just days after violent clashes between Pakistani forces and Taliban fighters along the Spin Boldak border crossing. Both sides later announced a 48-hour ceasefire following escalating airstrikes and cross-border shelling.

Rights groups say the renewed pressure on Afghan migrants coincides with heightened political and military tensions between Islamabad and Kabul, leading to increased deportations and harassment.

Analysts say Pakistan's latest measures reflect growing frustration with the Taliban over cross-border militant attacks and strained diplomatic ties. The deteriorating situation has raised fears of further instability in border provinces.

Humanitarian organizations have urged Islamabad to reconsider mass evictions, warning that thousands of Afghan families could face displacement and worsening conditions amid the fragile ceasefire between the two neighbours.
