Erdogan, Putin Confer on Peace Efforts


(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan engaged in a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to deliberate on their countries' mutual ties as well as pressing regional and international matters.

During the call, Erdogan emphasized that “Türkiye is working to ensure a ceasefire in Gaza, to deliver humanitarian aid to the region,” according to a statement from Türkiye’s Communications Directorate.

He reiterated Ankara’s commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts amid the ongoing conflict.

Erdogan also underscored the importance of advancing diplomatic efforts to bring the war in Ukraine to an end through a process that achieves a “fair and lasting peace.”

He noted that Türkiye will persist in its role in supporting such peace-building initiatives.

Additionally, the Turkish leader extended birthday greetings to his Russian counterpart, adding a personal gesture to the diplomatic exchange.
