PM Madbouly Inspects Key Development, Service Projects In Qalyubeya
Madbouly said this visit, his second to the governorate within a week, reflects the government's firm commitment to closely monitor the implementation of projects aimed at improving public services and driving comprehensive development across Egypt.
He highlighted Qalyubeya's strategic importance as both an agricultural and industrial hub within Greater Cairo, known for its rich agricultural output and prominent industrial zones. The Prime Minister affirmed the state's determination to continue strengthening key sectors such as agriculture and industry to promote sustainable economic growth and regional development.
Madbouly explained that such field tours aim not only to follow up on progress but also to swiftly address any obstacles facing projects on the ground. He cited recent examples from his visit to Monufeya, where direct intervention expedited project completion to better serve citizens.
As part of the tour, the Prime Minister visited the Obour Land factory in Obour City, operated by Obour Land for Food Industries, one of Egypt's leading dairy producers. Madbouly said the visit underscores the government's commitment to supporting successful industrial ventures that enhance local manufacturing, boost exports, and generate employment opportunities.
He stressed that the state is working to attract more local and foreign investments in the industrial sector while facilitating the growth of projects that add value to the national economy.
Accompanying the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir emphasized the vital role of the food industry, particularly dairy production, where Egypt enjoys a strong competitive position and rising export success.
During his factory visit, Madbouly inspected Obour Land 2, a specialized white cheese production plant, where he reviewed the entire production process - from pasteurization and filtration to packaging and printing - and toured the company's product exhibition showcasing goods for local and international markets.
Mohamed Hamed Sherif, Chairperson of Obour Land, stated that the company, established in 1996 and operating since 1998, produces dairy, cheese, and juice products on a 26,000-square-metre site. The company holds approximately 40% of Egypt's cheese market share, producing 450 tonnes of cheese and 100 tonnes of milk daily, with exports reaching more than 35 countries, including Russia, South Africa, Thailand, and Gulf states.
Sherif noted that the company employs around 2,600 workers, operates a nationwide refrigerated distribution network, and holds ISO and Egyptian–Emirati quality certifications.
Factory General Manager Ahmed Hussein announced that a new processed cheese factory is set to begin operations in November to meet growing export demand. He added that the company is expanding its Obour Farm, which currently produces 12 tonnes of milk per day from 700 cows, with plans to increase production to 30 tonnes daily to support rising market needs.
Madbouly's visit also included an inspection of the urban development project for governorate capitals and major cities (DARA) in Qalyubeya, which falls under the presidential initiative“Housing for All Egyptians.” The project aims to deliver 500,000 housing units nationwide to meet the needs of various income groups, while creating fully serviced and integrated communities with commercial and recreational facilities.
In Qalyubeya, the DARA project is being implemented across five sites, comprising 281 buildings with nearly 16,000 residential units for social, middle-income, and investment housing. Some sites are supervised by the Urban Development Fund (UDF), while others are under the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.
The sites managed by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority include the Agricultural Research“E,”“B,” and“D” areas, which together encompass over 200 buildings for different housing categories, alongside several service facilities. Construction progress is advancing steadily, with completion expected by the end of the year.
Khaled Seddik, Head of the Urban Development Fund, explained that the Fund oversees the Awqaf Land site in Shubra El-Kheima, which includes 25 social housing buildings, and the Esco Residences site, comprising 36 investment housing buildings. Both projects offer a range of community services and amenities for residents.
During his tour, the Prime Minister inspected sample units at the Agricultural Research“D” site, which spans 47 feddans and includes 68 buildings with a total of 2,812 housing units, as well as a bakery, nurseries, retail shops, playgrounds, and a mosque - serving an estimated 15,000 residents.
Madbouly reaffirmed that the government will continue conducting regular field visits across all governorates to ensure timely project implementation, overcome challenges, and guarantee that development efforts directly benefit Egyptian citizens.
