Cairo, Washington Weigh Arrangements For Sharm El-Sheikh Summit


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Oct 11 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed over the phone preparations for a summit due in Egypt's Sharm El-Sheikh resort city under co-chairmanship of Presidents Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and Donald Trump.
During the phone conversation, both sides also looked into the latest regional developments, ongoing efforts to put an end to Gaza war and the implementation of the first phase of the recently announced ceasefire agreement, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a press release on Saturday.
The U.S. secretary considered Sharm El-Sheikh summit a "unique historic event", while commending the special and pioneering role of President Al-Sisi and Egypt in the conclusion of this landmark deal.
The Egyptian foreign minister pointed out Al-Sisi's great appreciation to Trump for his Gaza peace plan, underling that it is essential to put this deal in place on the ground. (end)
