Saboteur Who Carried Out Arson Attacks For Russia Sentenced In Zakarpattia Region


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Zakarpattia Regional Police reported this on Facebook , according to Ukrinform.

"The court found a 22-year-old resident of the Zakarpattia region guilty of setting fire to infrastructure facilities in the region on orders from Russian intelligence. The offender was detained by officers of the Tiachiv District Police Department together with the SBU," the statement reads.

According to police, the investigation established that the man had set fire to a railway relay cabinet, a battery cabinet, and a branch office of a logistics company in exchange for payment.

In May, law enforcement caught him preparing another crime – the arson of a government administrative building. During searches, evidence of his criminal activities was seized.

The court classified his actions under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113 (sabotage committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy), and Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 194 (intentional destruction or damage to property by arson) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court sentenced him to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.

In September, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police detained three Russian agents responsible for arson attacks in eastern and western regions of Ukraine.
