Gandhiji Wanted To See Peace & Prosperity In J&K: LG
Srinagar- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is turning Mahatma Gandhi's dreams into reality, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Thursday while paying tributes to the Father of the Nation on his 156th birth anniversary in Srinagar.
Addressing the UT-level function, the Lieutenant Governor said Bapu's ideals of non-violence, truth, tolerance and compassion remain a source of inspiration for humanity and it was the collective responsibility of society to instill these values in the younger generation.
“We live in a time when global challenges threaten to undermine peace and stability. We must follow the ideals of Pujya Bapu to address contemporary challenges,” he said.
Lieutenant Governor said,“Gandhiji wanted to see peace and prosperity in J&K.”
“He (Gandhiji) had said that he sees a ray of hope in this land. I pray that J&K emerges as a shining star to show the light to the entire country in these difficult times (1947 partition era).
He urged the youth of J&K to make Gandhian ideals the basis of their lives and contribute actively to the welfare of society.“Our young generation must realize that Bapu's J&K is one of peace and prosperity, and they have a responsibility to shape it with their energy and dedication,” he said.
Sinha added that the principles of selfless service (sewa) and duties (kartavya) to which Gandhiji was committed will guide the journey of building Viksit Bharat.“With economic prosperity, we are determined to build a society powered by moral force and based on equity and justice,” he noted.
Calling for the adoption of Swadeshi, the LG urged people to buy products made by Self Help Groups (SHGs) and MSMEs.“Remember your roots and ageless spirit of India as you chart future course. Society and nature must exist in harmony. Focus on research and development. Agriculture, industry and service sectors must work together for a prosperous economy,” he said.
“The J&K government has been promoting Bapu's vision of swadeshi by setting up domestic industries. On this occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, I appeal to everyone-let us adopt swadeshi in our lives,” the Lieutenant Governor added.
The Lieutenant Governor also extended greetings on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
