Lucid Marks Second Anniversary of AMP-2 Facility and Announces Plans to Begin Complete Built-Up (CBU) Production
(MENAFN- bursonglobal) King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia – September 29, 2025 - Lucid Group, maker of the world’s most advanced electric vehicles, marked the second anniversary of its Advanced Manufacturing Plant (AMP-2) in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), a milestone that coincided with the Kingdom’s 95th National Day celebrations. This dual celebration underscores the shared journey of a nation and a company rooted in Saudi Arabia’s vision for innovation, sustainability, and progress.
In just two years, what began as a bold vision has evolved into Saudi Arabia’s first and most advanced electric vehicle manufacturing facilities, reflecting both Lucid’s and the Kingdom’s commitment to economic diversification and leadership in the global clean energy transition.
What makes AMP-2’s progress particularly striking is its dual identity: a world-class factory designed to drive innovation, and a powerful symbol of Saudi Arabia’s ability to attract cutting-edge industries that align with Vision 2030.
A Milestone of Saudi Pride
In early 2025, Lucid proudly became the first automotive Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to earn the coveted “Saudi Made” badge. This distinction is far more than a symbol; it reflects Lucid’s identity as a company producing world-class vehicles with Saudi expertise -- directly bolstering the National Industrial Strategy and cementing Saudi Arabia’s position as a global hub for advanced manufacturing and electric vehicle technology.
Today, nearly 69 percent of Lucid’s workforce in the Kingdom is Saudi nationals, many of them are new graduates from the Human Resources Development Fund program. From Sales and IT to Manufacturing and Marketing, these men and women are playing an increasingly central role in the company’s operations.
“Our commitment to Saudi Arabia goes beyond building electric vehicles,” said Faisal Sultan, President of Lucid Middle East. “Through our educational partnerships, growing consumer footprint, and expanding manufacturing facility, we are advancing innovation, empowering local talent, and contributing to the Kingdom’s bold vision for a sustainable future.”
Building Toward Full CBU Production
Opened in September 2023 as the Kingdom’s first-ever vehicle manufacturing facility, thousands of award-winning Lucid Air sedans have been assembled at the AMP-2 facility for delivery to customers across Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The facility is also welcoming the groundbreaking Lucid Gravity SUV, which was launched in Saudi Arabia in February 2025 and is already available to order through Lucid’s website or local studios in Riyadh and Jeddah.
In early 2024, Lucid’s manufacturing facility entered its next phase of development, breaking ground for a Completely Built-Up unit (CBU) production facility, enabling the full manufacturing of vehicles in Saudi Arabia. The facility is on track to make significant progress during 2025, with CBU production scheduled to begin in December 2026. The completion of this new facility will mark Lucid’s transition from assembling imported kits to building complete vehicles locally -- a defining step that directly supports Saudi Arabia’s ambition to localize advanced manufacturing under Vision 2030.
Reflecting a Nation’s Vision
The anniversary of Lucid’s AMP-2 facility reflects a commitment to shaping the future through bold vision, strategic investment, and the pursuit of transformative goals. Lucid’s growth in the country and the Kingdom’s drive for sustainable development reflect a shared momentum, advancing a story defined by innovation, resilience, and bold ambition. Lucid’s role in the Kingdom’s development is only just beginning. With AMP-2 set to reach full-scale production later next year, Lucid stands ready to help shape the next chapter of Saudi Arabia’s electric mobility transition.
