Lufthansa to cut four thousand administrative roles

(MENAFN) Lufthansa announced plans to eliminate 4,000 administrative positions by 2030 as part of efforts to boost efficiency through greater use of automation and digital tools, according to reports released Monday.

Most of the job reductions are expected to occur in Germany. The airline group explained that beginning in 2025 and continuing in the following years, it will undertake major investments and structural changes, focusing heavily on fleet modernization and long-term development programs.

The company intends to add 230 new planes during this timeframe, including 100 designed for long-haul routes. By doing so, Lufthansa aims to secure more than €2.5 billion ($2.9 billion) in adjusted free cash flow annually between 2028 and 2030.

"Financial strength will continue to be the basis for achieving the financial targets," the company stated.
