Wavex Launches 7 New Incubation Centers For AVGC & XR Startups Across India

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Sep 24 (KNN) WaveX, the dedicated startup accelerator platform under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting's WAVES initiative, has announced the launch of seven new incubation centers across the country.

This expansion, in addition to the existing flagship facility at the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), Mumbai, marks the first nationwide rollout of a specialised accelerator-cum-incubator programme for startups in the AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics) and XR (Extended Reality) sectors.

The new centers will be hosted at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) campuses in Delhi, Jammu, Dhenkanal (Odisha), Kottayam (Kerala), and Amravati (Maharashtra), as well as at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) in Kolkata.

Startups enrolled in WaveX will gain access to advanced infrastructure for film production, game development, editing, and testing.

The IICT incubator in Mumbai, already equipped with facilities such as an 8K Red Raptor Vista Vision camera, Dolby Atmos-enabled 4K HDR theatre, Alienware workstations, a virtual production stage with LED walls, photogrammetry systems, and VR testing kits, will serve as the model for the new centers.

The incubation programme offers co-working spaces, digital labs, studios, high-speed connectivity, cloud credits, and access to India AI compute services.

Startups will also benefit from structured mentorship by global experts, bootcamps, investor connect sessions, and opportunities to test innovations in areas such as OTT, VFX, VR, animation, and publishing.

Collaborations with IITs, T-Hub, and other leading incubators are being developed to expand industry exposure.

WaveX startups will also be able to work with media units under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, including Doordarshan, All India Radio, FTII, Press Information Bureau, and the Publications Division. Select ventures may receive priority in projects outsourced by these institutions.

Each incubation centre will admit 15 startups for the inaugural batch, with a monthly fee of Rs 8,500 plus GST. Preference will be given to ventures in media, entertainment, and AVGC–XR domains.

Applications for the first cohort are now open at wavesbazaar.
