Appeals Court Keeps NABU Detective Mahamedrasulov In Custody
“The court ruled: the appeal filed by the lawyer on behalf of Ruslan Mahamedrasulov is dismissed. The ruling of the investigating judge of the Pechersky District Court dated September 12, 2025, remains unchanged. The ruling is not subject to review,” the judge read out the operative part.
During the court hearing, Mahamedrasulov's lawyer, Olena Shcherban, asked the court to change her client's preventive measure to one not related to detention, in particular, to apply night-time house arrest.
As reported, on July 22, SSU Chairman Vasyl Maliuk said that the special service had documented facts of cooperation with the enemy by the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau in Dnipro, Ruslan Mahamedrasulov, and his father.
According to the SSU, investigators also recorded correspondence between the father of the NABU official and a representative of one of Dagestan's agricultural companies regarding the sale of technical hemp. The relevant information was allegedly found on the suspect's phone.
Mahamedrasulov was notified of suspicion under Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code (aiding an aggressor state). The court imposed preventive measures in the form of detention on him and his father.
On August 22, the SSU released materials from the investigation into this case, including fragments of correspondence between the suspect's father and representatives of the Republic of Dagestan, Russian Federation, regarding the sale of industrial hemp.
Earlier, on July 26, NABU Director Semen Kryvonos stated that the SSU's information about Mahamedrasulov's possible assistance to his father in the sale of industrial hemp to the Russian Federation was unknown to the Anti-Corruption Bureau prior to the searches.
At the same time, the Anti-Corruption Center NGO stated that the investigation materials may have been falsified. According to the ACC, the conversation is not about Dagestan, but about Uzbekistan. The organization also believes that the case against Mahamedrasulov is related to the fact that he documented businessman Timur Mindich within the framework of his work at NABU.
Mahamedrasulov himself did not confirm in an interview with NV that he was involved in the Mindich case.
On September 12, the Pechersky District Court of the capital extended Mahamedrasulov's preventive measure in the form of detention until October 21.
