Dr Karen Roehr-Brackin is a Reader in the Department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. Her research interests include explicit and implicit knowledge in instructed second language (L2) learning; the role of individual learner differences in L2 learning, in particular language learning aptitude, working memory capacity, and cognitive/learning style. Her work draws on a usage-based approach to language learning and teaching. She is interested in adult and child learning and language education. Her work has been published in international journals and edited volumes, and she published a monograph in 2018.
