Jordan, Uzbekistan Talk Agricultural Cooperation

Amman, Sep.20 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture Dr. Saeb Khreisat on Saturday discussed with Uzbek Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jamshidjon Abduzukhurov, a member of the Uzbek government delegation currently visiting the Kingdom, ways to enhance bilateral agricultural cooperation.
During the meeting, Khreisat presented ways to enhance bilateral agricultural cooperation by forming joint technical committees to follow up on the implementation of the proposed action plan.
Khreisat added that this scheme includes cooperation in the fields of plant and animal wealth, modern agricultural technologies, and agri-investments, particularly in grain cultivation and livestock.
The minister also praised the importance of the official visit of the Uzbek government delegation, which is comprised of representatives from several ministries.
Commending the "deep-rooted, friendly" bilateral relations, he called for strengthening partnerships between the two countries' private sectors to serve the agricultural sector.
For his part, the Uzbek official expressed his country's "readiness to make every possible effort" to develop agricultural cooperation in various fields, particularly in scientific research, modern technologies, and livestock.
The two sides also discussed prospects for exchanging technical expertise and capacity building programs, as well as introducing investment opportunities and enhancing agricultural trade exchange, which would contribute to expanding mutual cooperation areas.
Under the visit program, the Uzbek delegation will amke field visits to a number of agricultural production sites in the Kingdom to review available capabilities and explore future collaboration areas.
