Amman, Sept. 19 (Petra)-- Mohammad Momani, Government Communication Minister and Government Spokesperson, confirmed that the Gulf-Jordanian Media Dialogue Forum's objective is to start a thorough discussion about the reality of Arab media, stressing the significance of this conversation in enhancing the media's position in Arab societies and broadening its sphere of influence.
Momani clarified in his remarks at the forum's start on Friday that although journalists shape public opinion, many Arab media outlets continue to be involved in side conflicts at a time when problems are becoming more serious.
Minister Momani urged the use of reason and wisdom, pointing out that despite the country's rich history, cultures, and humanistic ideas, Arab media still struggles to effectively communicate its voice and thoughts outside.
In order to influence society and decision-makers around the world, he also underlined the importance of the media as a vehicle for exposing the truth and promoting the Arab narrative and legitimate causes.
"Jordan believes in the pivotal role of the media and accords it its rightful place as an essential part of the national security equation," Momani continued at the Center for Defending Freedom of Journalists conference. In order to prevent deviations that could cause unrest and jeopardize peace and societal stability, he underlined the importance of a free, responsible media that upholds professional and ethical standards.
