Qatari Mediation Secures Release Of British Couple From Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday it has successfully facilitated the release of two British citizens from captivity in Afghanistan.
The British couple, Peter and Barbara Reynolds, have arrived in Doha and will leave for London later on, Qatari Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi told QNA news agency.
On behalf of the State of Qatar, Dr. Al-Khulaifi thanked the caretaker government of Afghanistan for the fruitful cooperation they have shown during the negotiation with the British government.
He reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to pursuing the mediation efforts aiming to encourage dialogue, resolve disputes through peaceful means, protect the human rights and save lives. (end)
