Petra, Sep. 18 (Petra) – The facade of the Treasury in the ancient city of Petra was illuminated in orange on Wednesday evening to mark Change Day, coinciding with World Patient Safety Day, under the patronage of Her Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein.
The event was organized by the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) in cooperation with the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) to raise community awareness of patient safety and promote a culture of quality in healthcare.
Fares Braizat, Chairman of the PDTRA, said the Treasury's illumination for the second time as a global beacon reflects Petra's humanitarian and cultural message and underscores Jordan's commitment to health and human life.
Salma Jaouni, CEO of the HCAC, said the orange lighting symbolizes global solidarity for patient safety and emphasizes the importance of collaboration among the health, tourism, and community sectors to advance safe healthcare practices.
Hosting the event at Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, conveys a humanitarian message that transcends borders and reinforces Jordan's role in international efforts to ensure quality health services.
World Patient Safety Day, observed annually on September 17, is designated by the World Health Organization to highlight safe healthcare practices, protect patients from medical risks, and promote global solidarity in building safer, more humane health systems.
