Malaysian PM Denounces Israeli Strikes on Six Nations as “Insolent”
(MENAFN) Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Saturday sharply condemned Israel’s military actions against six countries, calling its behavior “insolent” and unprecedented.
“A single country can behave so insolently by attacking six countries in just one or two weeks,” Anwar remarked during the closing session of Malaysia’s National Gathering of Religious Agencies (IJPAM) 2025, as reported by a news agency.
Since Monday, Israel has launched military strikes on multiple nations, including Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Qatar. On Tuesday, Israel targeted a residential compound in Doha, Qatar, believed to be housing Hamas leaders. The airstrike resulted in the deaths of five Hamas members and a Qatari security official, who had been engaged in discussions regarding a new US-backed peace proposal to end the ongoing Gaza conflict. More than 64,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 2023. Along with the US and Egypt, Qatar has been actively involved in mediation efforts to halt the war.
Anwar's tally of affected nations also includes Tunisia, where a drone strike reportedly hit the Global Sumud Flotilla off its coast. In response, Tunisia’s Interior Ministry announced Thursday that it is conducting thorough investigations to determine the perpetrators of the attack. "All investigations and inquiries are being carried out to uncover the full truth so that public opinion, not only in Tunisia but worldwide, will know who planned this attack, who colluded, and who carried out the execution," the Ministry said.
Anwar announced he would participate in the Arab-Islamic extraordinary summit in Doha on Monday to demonstrate Malaysia's backing for Palestine and to denounce the violence and "inhumane insolence of the Zionists."
The summit, the third joint Arab and Islamic heads of state meeting since Israel launched its offensive in Gaza on October 7, 2023, will address Israel's continued attacks on Gaza and the West Bank, its occupation policies, and the recent strike targeting Hamas leadership in Doha.
