Kuwait Amb. To Bangladesh Affirms Permanent Support To Ronhingya Refugees

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Ambassador to Bangladesh Ali Hamada stressed on Thursday continued backing to Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar, south of Bangladesh.
Hamada made the statement to KUNA during a visit he paid along with a delegation of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) to the shelters of refugees in Cox's Bazar to inspect the follow up the Kuwait-funded projects, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Bangladesh Red Crescent.
The delegation paid an inspection visit to the projects related to sheltering and water, and means of enhancing living conditions to combat fire and climate, he added.
The visit also came as part of humanitarian efforts exerted by Kuwait to assist the needy across the globe and continue these endeavors which are compatible with the wide humanitarian vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Ambassador pointed out.
The tour shows solidarity and support of Kuwait to Bangladesh in the face of this crisis, he said, referring that Kuwait's continued support is widely appreciated by Bangladesh.
More than one million of Rohingya Muslims in Bagladesh have been suffering from tough humaniatarin conditions when they fled Rakhine province in Myanmar in 2017 as a result of wide-scale militray operations.
Kuwait among the countries that carry out much relief programs, through regional and international partnerships, to alleviate the refugees' sufferings.
The KRCS has provided USD 1.3 million to the international federation of International Committee of the Red Cross and Middle East and North Africa region, in support of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
The KRCS delegation featured Vice Chairman Nasser Al-Tannak, head of operations department Zainab Komber, along with other delegations supporting those refugees. (end)
