HRDS signed MoU with theJ&K Govt for building houses damaged during Op Sindoor and the recent floods in the Union Territory.

Srinagar : In a significant step towards rehabilitating families devastated by natural calamities, cross-border shelling, and terrorism, the High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India) Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and the Kashmir for building houses damaged during Operation Sindoor and the recent floods in the Union Territory.

The initiative, spearheaded by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, reflects his vision of empowering and safeguarding the future of families affected by unprovoked enemy shelling and terrorism. Presiding over the MoU signing ceremony at Raj Bhawan, the Lieutenant Governor lauded the noble endeavour of HRDS India and stressed that construction of homes is not just about structures but about“building dreams, a fresh start, and a new chapter in the lives of affected families.”

Under the MoU, HRDS India will build 1500 free 3-bedroom smart houses across Jammu and Kashmir. These houses will incorporate modern safety and comfort features, ensuring secure and dignified living conditions for beneficiaries. Families of terror victims whose houses were destroyed by militants will also be included in the list of beneficiaries, jointly identified by HRDS India and the Divisional Commissioners of both divisions.

The initiative extends well beyond housing. HRDS India has announced 15-year life insurance coverage for all family members, monthly health check-ups, and digital connectivity for every house. In collaboration with BSNL, the organization will also provide free internet access to all beneficiary households to support education, communication, and digital inclusion.
