SSU Detains Russian Agent Who Manufactured Explosive Devices For Terrorist Attacks In Odesa

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the SSU .

As established by the investigation, the completed explosives were placed in caches along the seacoast, and their coordinates were sent to the FSB.

Later, the Russians would send the corresponding geolocations to the direct perpetrators of the terrorist attacks, who would retrieve the explosive devices from the caches.

One of the female terrorists was detained by Ukrainian special services in July of this year, when she attempted to blow up the regional Territorial Center of Recruitment in Odesa.

According to the case materials, the currently detained agent responsible for making the explosives turned out to be a 60-year-old Odesa resident who had previously worked as a sailor on a commercial vessel, and after retirement, began working for the FSB. It was established that the individual was recruited while visiting his sister in Russia at the beginning of the full-scale war. According to FSB orders, the man later returned to Odesa through third countries.

Upon his arrival in Ukraine, the agent initially carried out test tasks from his handler - reporting on the consequences of enemy strikes on the city. Later, the Russian intelligence officer instructed his accomplice on how to manufacture explosives and where to prioritize placing them in caches.

According to the investigation, the suspect reinforced the explosive devices with metal nuts and screws and equipped them with mobile phones for remote detonation.

The SSU documented the agent's crimes and detained him at his place of residence. A smartphone used to communicate with the FSB was seized from him.

SSU investigators have notified the agent of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 15 and Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (completed attempt to commit a terrorist act).

The offender is in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

As reported by Ukrinform, police foiled a 28-year-old resident of Izmail involved in organizing a terrorist attack that injured a man
