Kuka Unveils KMP 250P Mobile Platform For Flexible Factory Transport

(MENAFN- Robotics & Automation News) Kuka launches new autonomous mobile robot platform

September 4, 2025 by Mai Tao

Kuka has expanded its autonomous mobile robot (AMR) lineup with the launch of the KMP 250P, a mobile platform designed to carry goods and components weighing up to 250 kilograms.

The system, which can also be fitted with a lifting unit, will be available for order in December 2025.

The German automation specialist said the new model adds to its existing AMR portfolio, which already includes platforms with payloads of up to 3,000 kilograms.

The KMP 250P shares accessories and charging options with the KMP 600P and KMP 1500P, making it easier to operate multiple platforms in the same fleet.

According to Kuka, the platform can be managed via its Kuka Fleet software and supports the VDA 5050 communication standard.

A new“sleep mode” function allows even large fleets to be placed in standby more efficiently. The unit is powered by a differential drive, with both conductive and inductive charging options available to support continuous operation.

Safety has been a central focus in the design. Two diagonally mounted laser scanners, combined with 3D cameras, provide 360-degree monitoring. The company said the platform can automatically navigate around obstacles when possible, or stop completely if necessary.

Clemens Lauble, product manager at Kuka, says:“This high standard is very important to us. It ensures both smooth cooperation between humans and robotics and the safe transport of goods.”

The KMP 250P will also be offered in cleanroom and ESD versions for sensitive environments. Looking ahead, Kuka plans to introduce a tugger variant, the KMP 250P-T, in 2026.

This version will allow the AMR to dock onto transport trolleys from below and pull loads of up to 500 kilograms.
