Gaza Tribunal Demands Armed Action to Halt Gaza “Genocide”

(MENAFN) The Gaza Tribunal issued a strong appeal on Monday for an immediate international military intervention, asserting that Israel has entered its "most lethal phase of genocide" in Gaza.

The tribunal cautioned that inaction at this stage would signify "an historic failure of humanity."

During a press briefing held in Istanbul, Richard Falk, the president of the independent tribunal, emphasized the urgency of bypassing the UN Security Council.

Falk, a professor emeritus of international law at Princeton University in the US and a former UN special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories (2008–2014), called on world governments to instead authorize the UN General Assembly to approve armed involvement.

Falk stated, "If we do not take action of a serious and drastic kind at this time, anything done in a more moderate fashion will be too late, too late to save the surviving people who have already been traumatized by more than 22 months of genocide."

He described the current situation as a moment in history where "the eyes and the ears of the world have been exposed, as never before, including the Holocaust, to the transparency of genocide carried out in real time," urging the international community to reflect on its moral obligations.

He further criticized Western nations, accusing them of "complicit behavior" in the ongoing violence, though he acknowledged emerging changes in public sentiment.

Falk appealed to global citizens, encouraging widespread activism to influence political decisions—especially in the form of arms embargoes, sanctions, and "the kind of solidarity with the Palestinian struggle that proved so effective in the anti-apartheid campaign."

Throughout the conference, Falk emphasized the moral imperative for governments and civil society to act decisively to prevent further atrocities.
