Jordan, Syria Discuss Improving, Starting Up Activities At Joint Zone, Border Crossing

Amman, August 15 (Petra)-- Yarub Qudah, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, discussed with Qutaiba Badawi, Chairperson of the Syrian General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, a number of topics intended to advance economic ties and fortify the partnership between Amman and Damascus.
During his visit to the Syrian Nassib border crossing, which is next to the Jordanian Jaber crossing, Qudah emphasized Jordan's commitment to expediting work and finalizing transactions at the Jaber-Nassib border crossing, in coordination and follow-up with our Syrian partners, according to a ministry statement released on Friday. This will help to improve trade and transportation, make it easier for people to move around, and keep an eye on and swiftly address any issues that may come up.
The two sides examined the facilities and operational processes for the movement of trucks and passengers during a field visit of the crossing facilities. They also discussed the measures put in place to speed up trade between the two friendly nations.
The two parties reaffirmed their willingness to take the required steps to improve respond to the growing amount of trade and land transportation between the two nations, as well as to handle any issues or challenges that may come up at the border crossing.
Additionally, they reaffirmed their dedication to coordinating and working together to develop areas of cooperation and foster an appealing investment climate, which would boost bilateral trade and help Jordanian and Syrian industries.
The Free Zone Company's general assembly meeting was held on the sidelines of the tour. During the meeting, labor statistics for the first half of this year were discussed, along with proposals to boost economic activity, modernize infrastructure, and develop digital systems to meet the demands of contemporary trade and strengthen the free zone's position as a regional logistics hub that serves both countries.
