Full Dress Rehearsals Held For I-Day Across Kashmir
At Srinagar's Bakshi Stadium, Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri hoisted the National Flag, inspected parade contingents, and addressed participants, highlighting developmental achievements and commending security agencies for maintaining peace during events like the Shri Amarnathji Yatra and Operation Sindoor. Floral tributes were also paid to national martyrs at Balidan Stambh, Pratap Park.
Full dress rehearsals were conducted across districts, including Anantnag, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla, Budgam, Pulwama, Kupwara, and Bandipora. In each district, Additional District Development Commissioners (ADCs) hoisted the Tricolour, took the salute at march-pasts presented by contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, BSF, JKAP, Home Guard, NCC cadets, and school students, and highlighted district-level developmental and socio-economic achievements.
Cultural programmes featuring patriotic songs, traditional dances, and performances by students and local artists were held in all districts, celebrating India's freedom struggle and rich cultural heritage. In addition to main venues, rehearsals were also held at block, panchayat, school, and college levels to ensure smooth conduct of Independence Day events across the region.
Officials from civil administration, police, paramilitary forces, and other departments were present at all venues to oversee arrangements and security measures. The rehearsals reflected the districts' readiness, coordination among various departments, and the public's enthusiasm ahead of the 79th Independence Day celebrations.
