(MENAFN) Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin met with Indian Ambassador to Moscow Vinay Kumar on Tuesday to discuss ways to enhance defense cooperation between the two nations.

According to a statement from Russia’s Defense Ministry, the officials conducted an in-depth discussion on current defense collaboration efforts and reiterated their commitment to deepening military cooperation within the framework of their uniquely close strategic partnership.

The ministry highlighted that the talks were held in the typically warm and friendly atmosphere that defines Russian-Indian relations.

The meeting came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose higher tariffs on India, accusing the country of profiting from the resale of Russian oil.
