NEW YORK, July 30 (KUNA) -- Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Wednesday inked the final declaration of the High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
In a press statement, the Saudi top diplomat called on all UN member states to endorse the document before the end of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in next September.
He pointed out that the document introduces comprehensive proposals covering the political, humanitarian, security, economic, legal, and strategic aspects of the Palestinian question and constitutes an integrated and practical framework for implementing the two-state solution and achieving peace and security for all.
The document includes an agreement to work together to end the war in Gaza and reach a just, peaceful, and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue based on the implementation of the two-state solution and building a better future for both parties and all peoples of the region.
It reiterated condemnation of all attacks by any party against civilians, including all acts of terrorism, indiscriminate attacks, all attacks against civilian properties, provocative acts, incitement, and destruction.
The document voiced rejection of any actions that lead to territorial or demographic changes, including the forced displacement of Palestinian civilians, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
It denounced the attacks against civilians in Gaza and civilian infrastructure, as well as the blockade and starvation, which have led to a devastating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
It emphasized that "the taking of prisoners is prohibited under international law."
The document warned that war, occupation, "terrorism," and forced displacement cannot lead to peace or security, and that only a political solution can achieve them.
It added that ending the conflict with the Israeli occupation and implementing the two-state solution is the only way to meet the legitimate aspirations of both parties-in accordance with international law-and the best way to end violence in all its forms and ensure regional integration for the benefit of all peoples of the region.
In the document, officials and delegates pledged to take concrete, time-bound, and irreversible steps toward a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue, the implementation of the two-state solution, and the establishment of an independent, democratic, sovereign, and economically viable Palestinian state.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan adopted the final document on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, France, and the main countries participating in the working groups of the international conference.
The conference, sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France and held at the UN headquarters in New York, aims to help end the occupation and establish an independent, sovereign Palestinian state living in peace and security. (end)
