Israel kills eighteen Palestinians from starvation
(MENAFN) At least 18 Palestinians have died in the past 24 hours due to hunger in Gaza, according to local health authorities, pushing the total number of hunger-related deaths in the enclave to 86 since March. Of those, 76 were children.
In an official statement, health officials described the situation as a "silent massacre," warning that around 17,000 children are currently suffering from severe malnutrition across the territory, which is home to over two million people.
The health authorities called for the immediate reopening of border crossings to allow essential food and medical aid to reach civilians trapped inside the enclave.
The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) also weighed in, stating on social media that "Israeli authorities are starving civilians in Gaza, including one million children." The agency called for an end to the Israeli blockade to ease the humanitarian crisis.
Speaking on Sunday, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa described the situation in Gaza as "unbelievable and unreasonable," underscoring the urgent need for international intervention.
