Japan Commits to Diplomatic Efforts for Israel, Iran Ceasefire

(MENAFN) Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya declared on Monday that Japan will persist in its diplomatic initiatives to guarantee the enforcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran.

Iwaya made these remarks during a meeting in Tokyo with Jasem Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), as stated in an announcement released by Japan’s Foreign Ministry.

“Japan will continue to make all necessary diplomatic efforts to ensure that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran is steadily implemented and that avenues for dialogue are reopened,” he affirmed.

He further conveyed Japan’s aspiration that the GCC will contribute to stabilizing the worldwide oil market and urged the enhancement of political and economic relations between the two parties.

Al Budaiwi underscored the significance of dialogue among the involved nations to uphold regional stability, highlighting that the GCC remains dedicated to promoting such conversations.

Both sides voiced mutual concerns over activities threatening freedom of navigation and assaults on oil infrastructure, reaffirming the strong collaboration between Japan and the GCC to advance peace and stability across the Middle East.

The conflict between Israel and Iran began on June 13 when Israel conducted airstrikes targeting Iranian military, nuclear, and civilian locations, resulting in at least 935 fatalities.

The Iranian Health Ministry reported 5,332 individuals injured.
