Trump says US is miles ahead from China, Russia


(MENAFN) Trump has stated that both Russia and China bridging the distance with US regarding the number of submarines. However, he stressed that US stays miles ahead.

On Tuesday, he made the comments during a speech addressed to high army officers at Quantico, a Marine Corps base outside Washington.

Trump alleged that “we’re 25 years ahead of Russia and China in submarines,” and he also said “Russia is actually second in submarines. China is third. But, you know, they’re coming up.”

He then added that, "they’re way lower in nuclear, too, but in five years they’ll be equal," without specifying if his reference was to nuclear weapons or nuclear-powered submarines.

He continued by saying that he dispatched "a nuclear submarine" after being "a little bit threatened by Russia recently." He clarified this is regarding Ex Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's recent mention of the 'Dead Hand'—the legendary Soviet contingency system designed to automatically launch all remaining nuclear weapons if the nation’s command structure were wiped out in a first strike.
