Deadly Fire In Peshawar's Kochi Bazaar Claims 4 Lives, 2 Firefighters Critically Injured


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) A sudden fire broke out in a warehouse in Peshawar's bustling Kochi Bazaar, which quickly spread to a residential flat above, resulting in the tragic deaths of four people and critical injuries to two firefighters.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi, rescue teams launched an immediate operation and managed to evacuate six people from the affected residence.

Sadly, four of them could not survive. The deceased have been identified as Riaz, Rafiq, Shehnaz, and Mrs. Rafiq.

The fire initially erupted in the warehouse but intensified rapidly, engulfing the residential unit above where several people were trapped. A total of 40 personnel participated in the firefighting and rescue efforts. During the operation, two firefighters collapsed due to the intense heat and smoke and were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital, where their condition is reported to be critical.

The spokesperson said the fire was brought under control under extremely challenging conditions. However, cooling and search operations are still underway to prevent any potential reignition.
