Drone Attack Leaves Two Dead in Odesa

(MENAFN) A Russian unmanned aerial assault on Ukraine’s Odesa province has resulted in two fatalities and 14 injuries, according to Ukrainian officials on Saturday.

Oleh Kiper, the chief of the Odesa regional military administration, disclosed that six of the injured are still hospitalized, with three in critical condition.

“The rest are receiving outpatient care,” he shared on Telegram.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, 22 drones were deployed in the overnight assault. Air defense forces succeeded in downing 21 of them, while one drone was “neutralized” using electronic warfare.

The Odesa region was highlighted as the principal objective of the attack.

In a report, the State Emergency Service stated that a 21-story apartment block in Odesa was struck, igniting a blaze across the top three floors.

“People were trapped in their apartments,” the report noted.

Hennadiy Trukhanov, the Mayor of Odesa, verified that emergency responders recovered the remains of a couple who perished in the attack.

“My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones,” he expressed via social media.

Odesa, a crucial city along the Black Sea coast, has frequently come under attack throughout the ongoing conflict, with drones being utilized extensively in recent operations.
