Muharram Processions To Follow Last Year's Routes: LG Sinha

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that Muharram processions in the Union Territory will follow the same routes as they did last year. He made the announcement during a press conference held at the Raj Bhawan, convened to brief the media on preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

“The routes followed for Muharram processions last year will remain unchanged this year,” LG Sinha said while responding to a query during the presser.

The Lieutenant Governor also reviewed the overall security and logistical arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra 2025, which is set to commence from July 3.

“All necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. From security to medical facilities, everything is in place. We are committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of every pilgrim,” LG Sinha said.

He added that special attention is being given to sanitation, traffic regulation, and emergency response systems.

Officials said that coordination meetings have been held with all stakeholders, including security agencies, health departments, civil administration, and shrine board representatives, to ensure a peaceful and well-managed Yatra season.

Meanwhile, the LG's remark on Muharram processions is likely to evoke responses from various religious bodies, particularly Shia organisations, who have been pushing for revival of all traditional routes.
