Arab League Condemns Terror Attack On Church In Syria


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, June 23 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul-Gheit strongly condemned on Monday the terrorist attack that targeted church in Syria, leading to several casualties.
In a statement, Abul-Gheit expressed the Arab League's deep concern over this new development, which represented the targeting of civilians in a place of worship and the negative repercussions it could have on security and stability in Syria.
He pointed to the continued danger posed by terrorist organizations, particularly so-called Islamic State (IS/Daesh), as their risks have increased due to the chaos and insecurity.
He also expressed hope that the Syrian government would be able to confront these terrorist organizations and others targeting civil peace in Syria and the region.
Abul-Gheit affirmed the Arab League's solidarity with the Syrian government and people, and its support for efforts to achieve a peaceful transitional process that preserves the rights of all Syrians and fulfills their aspirations for stability and development. (end)
