Pres. Putin: Israel Agrees To Protect Safety Of Russians At Iran's Bushehr Reactor

SAINT PETERSBURG-Russia, June 19 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there are Russian workers at Bushehr nuclear facility in southern Iran and that Moscow and Tel Aviv agreed to ensure their safety.
Speaking to reporters on the fringes of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Wednesday night, the Russian leader cautioned against a potential US support to the Israeli occupation in the latter's war against Iran.
Any direct US military intervention could further destabilize the situation in the Middle East, he made clear.
President Putin refuted reports that Iran demanded military support from Russia, ruling out any military cooperation under the strategic partnership agreement with Iran.
On the military supplies to Iran in the past, he said they were away from the current conflict and in consistency with the international legal frameworks.
The Russian leader affirmed that Moscow would push for a peaceful solution to the current crisis and there were still a chance for reaching a suitable deal.
He added that Russia makes direct and intensive diplomatic contacts with the Israelis and US President Donald Trump's administration to contain the conflict>
Regarding the Ukrainian dossier, Putin said he was ready to meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for peace talks, however he raised questions about the legitimacy of the latter whose five-year term in office elapsed last year. (end)
